Alex Pilato, TradeRisks’ principal shareholder, founded the company in 2000. He was the founder of JP Morgan’s risk advisory businesses. He pioneered the development of sophisticated modelling techniques. He established a market reputation in risk management as a trusted advisor to central banks, sovereign debt agencies, ministries of finance, major corporates and financial institutions. He developed, maintained and supervised debt benchmarks for sovereign borrowers and debt agencies. He is a regular speaker on sovereign asset and liability management issues at World Bank and IMF conferences. Chairman of key industry conferences on credit and market risk, and speaker at internal seminars organised by central banks and financial regulators. After 7 years at JP Morgan, Alex moved to HSBC to lead the bank’s global risk advisory services and then to Tokai Bank Europe (TBE) as head of Capital Markets and Merchant Banking. Alex is an experienced manager of trading teams. He managed the client trading teams at TBE over a number of years which included periods of extremely volatile market conditions such as the Asian financial crisis. He was a member of TBE’s Executive, Risk and New Products Committees which were also responsible for the extensive proprietary trading activities of the bank. He has considerable experience on the totality of issues surrounding the management of proprietary trading operations, e.g. capital allocation, recruitment, traders’ compensation, risk management, compliance and regulatory issues.

Jon Slater

Jon Slater, TradeRisks’ joint Chief Executive, joined the company in February 2011 from JP Morgan where he was Managing Director and Global Head of Structured Credit Trading, renewing a long-standing working relationship with Alex Pilato. The two previously worked together at JP Morgan from 1989, and also from 1997 at Tokai Bank Europe. Jon Slater subsequently re-joined JP Morgan in 2000 where he spent the next 11 years developing and leading its Structured Credit Trading business. Jon Slater is an experienced structured derivatives trader and has a wealth of experience on risk management, benchmarking and performance measurement. Jon is the Compliance Officer for TradeRisks Limited.

Antoine Pesenti

Antoine Pesenti

Senior Managing Director

Antoine Pesenti is head of Trading and Risk Management of TradeRisks. He joined TradeRisks in 2002 from the EBRD where he was responsible for the development of Monte Carlo simulation short-rate models for the risk management of government and corporate bond positions.

Prior to EBRD, Antoine was responsible for the development of yield curve and derivatives pricing models and libraries at Refco, where he subsequently became in charge of the OTC Desk risk management.

Before joining the City, Antoine Pesenti had a distinguished mathematics academic career in France and Italy. He was assistant professor of mathematics in Classe Préparatoire aux Grandes Ecoles, Lycée Monge, Chambéry.

Antoine is Finance Director for the TradeRisks Group. He is also a board member of two charities.

James joined TradeRisks in 2015 having spent 15 years with RBS. Most recently, James was Head of Corporate Financing Solutions; a team he established to provide strategic and bespoke financing ideas for the bank’s key UK corporate clients.

Previously, James spent 10 years in infrastructure and transportation client coverage; during which time he was responsible for arranging financing for many of the UK’s key transport and infrastructure companies. He worked on transactions for Peel Ports, Gatwick Airport, ABP, P&O/ DP World and Wales & West Utilities. James has extensive experience in working with both corporates and infrastructure sponsors across the spectrum of debt financing and risk management requirements.

Ben Fry joined TradeRisks in 2011 from Deloitte’s business modelling team where he advised on a number of financial modelling assignments for financial services, infrastructure and media clients.

Prior to joining the modelling team, Ben qualified as a Chartered Accountant within Deloitte’s corporate audit practice where he managed audits across the media and security sectors.

Suzanne has been practising as a barrister for over 20 years. She qualified in 1993 and became a QC in 2012. She specialises in commercial law, including banking, derivatives, and financial regulation. She has advised and represented many companies and firms in relation to their banking-related legal matters.

Maria Goroh joins TradeRisks to oversee relations with the UK investor base. Prior to TradeRisks, Maria worked in capital markets with the Credit Sales team at Citigroup and Nomura, covering a large investor base of pension funds, insurers and asset managers. She specialised in corporate bonds, bank debt and credit derivatives. Prior to Nomura, Maria worked at Bloomberg Emerging Markets team specialising in Fixed Income.

Michael Woodman

Michael joined TradeRisks in 2012. He is a qualified solicitor, having trained at Sidley Austin LLP in London. At Sidley, Michael practised in the Debt Capital Markets department in which he advised clients on a range of capital markets and banking transactions, which included issues of Regulation S and Rule 144A debt securities, updates of EMTN and MTN programmes and updates of revolving loan facilities.

In addition, Michael has considerable commercial experience, having worked in-house for the Organising Committee for the London 2012 Games.

Michael is Company Secretary for the TradeRisks Group.

Marno Jooste

Prior to joining TradeRisks, Marno worked for Credit Suisse with exposure in accounting and risk management for a range of derivative products. Prior to that, Marno worked in audit at KPMG in the investment management and funds space focusing on hedge funds, asset managers and pension funds.

Marno was also part of KPMG’s Financial Engineering Group who were responsible for building cash flow models used for valuations of unlisted financial instruments and recommending improvement to controls, pricing procedures and valuation methodologies to various types of clients.

Marno is currently studying towards his CFA qualification.

Bryony Harrap

Bryony joined TradeRisks in 2014 from EY’s International Tax and Transfer Pricing team, where she gained experience of financial modelling, credit rating and treasury analysis, and tax advisory services. Within the Transfer Pricing team, she specialised in the creation of financial models to ensure a wide variety of intercompany transactions, including guarantee fees and interest rates, were priced at market rates. This entailed undertaking credit rating analysis in relation to the relevant entities, analysis of yield spreads on comparative debt in the market, benchmarking analysis using credit default swaps and headroom and debt cover analysis to assess appropriate interest rates and supportable debt levels on intercompany lending. Over three years at EY, Bryony worked across a wide range of industries, predominantly with FTSE 100 clients and overseas multi-national corporates.

Tom joined TradeRisks in 2017 from Operis, where he provided structuring and modelling advice to clients across the infrastructure and renewable energy sectors. He also gained considerable experience as a project finance due diligence advisor. Prior to joining Operis, Tom worked as a mathematics teacher in an inner-city London comprehensive.
Tom has completed his studies for the CFA qualification, passing all three levels at the first attempt.

Matjus joined TradeRisks from the strategy and transactions modelling team at KPMG where he worked on projects in real estate and energy. Prior to joining the modelling team, Matjus worked in KPMG’s corporate audit practice where he specialised in the business services and infrastructure sectors.

Before KPMG Matjus worked as a financial analyst at the Estonian national energy firm Eesti Energia, across a range of projects in renewable and non-renewable energy and infrastructure. Matjus has also served in the Estonian army as an artillery platoon radio operator.

Matjus is currently studying towards his ACA qualification.

His most recent experience involved financial modelling for mid-large private equity and industrial clients based in UK and Italy, many of which listed on the stock exchange.
